Tenth Form (Navratri)

Tenth form

Recently, an admirable news was read that in this Navratri, the Kalash would be worshiped in place of the idol of the Goddess, so that the crowd of people would be reduced and infection could be avoided. This is a revolutionary change. Idols have been worshiped for centuries, but no one raises the question as to what is done. The nine forms of the Goddess are worshiped for nine days. These are all different aspects of female energy, but they are not seen in human women, they are only in the poet's imagination. The tenth form is that simple human woman, which is found everywhere, outside the house. Until it is worshiped, one cannot get the fruit of Navratri.

The idol is a symbol. Durga, the ultimate developed form of female power. This power can annihilate demons, ie demerits, hidden inside every man. By understanding these symbols, if we bring divine qualities within us, then there will be some benefit of worshiping them.

Osho has revealed very deep meanings of idol worship, which would be meaningful to understand - 'The idol is just the beginning. A bridge is between shape and formless. Pooja means, our entire focus is now on the mystery of this idol. As we go on ingraining the qualities of the idol, our relationship with it will diminish and become connected with the formless. This is worship. This was a deep understanding of the ancient mystics. Therefore the idol is installed and immersed after worship. The idol was a way to reach itself. If such a state of mind is created, then only idol worship will be meaningful.
