Ego is a disease

Ego is pathological in itself, no matter what it is. When we search for the meaning of the word pathological in the Greek language, we find that it is used for ego, although today the term is used to describe a condition of disease. It derives from the word 'patho', which means suffering. Buddha discovered it centuries ago as a human trait. A person, who is in possession of ego, will not perceive suffering as suffering, but will see it as a situation given at a suitable time. Grief is a mental illness created by ego, which has spread like an epidemic. Ego also takes suffering as a pleasure, because to an extent it strengthens itself.

Actually, in order to become adults, we gradually form a mental image about ourselves based on our personal and cultural background. We can call it the imaginary image of our ego. The meaning of the word ego varies from person to person, but a common meaning is to create a misleading, imaginary and unrealistic image of oneself.
